What Rubiic Scanner does
Rubiic Scanner turns photographs of handwritten tables into digital, editable data. To do that, we need to store and process the images you upload and the data extracted from them. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and who touches it.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address and authentication credentials (or your Apple ID identifier if you sign in with Apple).
- Your scans: the page images you upload or capture, and the tables extracted from them, including your edits. These are private to your account.
- Payment records: top-up amounts and a credit ledger. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store them.
- Diagnostics: error reports from the app (message, stack trace, device context). These never include scan content.
How processing works
When you submit a page, its image is sent to AI providers for optical character recognition and table structuring: currently Mistral AI and models accessed via OpenRouter. These providers process the image to return the extracted data and are not permitted to use it for advertising. Storage and databases are hosted on Supabase; the web portal is hosted on Vercel; payments run on Stripe.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data. To anyone.
- We don't use your scans to train models.
- We don't show ads or share data with advertisers.
- We don't read your scans except when you explicitly ask us to investigate a problem.
Retention and deletion
Your documents stay until you delete them. Deleting a document removes both the images and the extracted data. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at am5815@bu.edu and we will complete the purge within 7 days. (An in-app deletion button is coming with the App Store release.)
